I am very excited this morning. Every time I have tried to lose weight, the yo-yo effect of losing and gaining always kicks in at some point. Since starting the Blood Sugar Solution program a few weeks ago, I’ve held my breath, waiting for the ‘other shoe to drop’, for the yo-yo to begin, and for this ‘diet’ to fail like all the others I have tried. But maybe I can breathe again, because this plan seems to be working!
I have lost another 3 pounds this week. I now weigh 212 pounds. My biggest weight ever was 235 about two years ago. Somehow within those years I had managed to lose down to 227 before I started the BSS program. For over two years it was a struggle to lose a pound and keep it off. Now, with this way of eating, I have lost consistently every week. And believe me I have enjoyed all the foods that I have prepared!
So many times over the years I’ve heard people say, “I’ll tell you how to lose that weight…stop eating bread and sweets.” So, I’d try that, but it didn’t help. For the life of me I could never “think” of something else to eat to replace the bread or the sweet things that I was eating and craving.
The BSS program also suggests that you stop eating breads and sugar, but in his book Blood Sugar Solution, Dr. Mark Hyman tells you what foods to eat instead of bread and sugar. These are foods that actually satisfy the body and reduce the desire for non-nutritious substances. And the book has lots of wonderful menus. The meals make it possible to be satisfied without the feeling that I’m missing something. I am not craving sweets!
